about

After delivering two hard-hitting, often intense records as part of the experimental rock group Tachdé, Fernando Samalot has carved a niche all to himself inside Puerto Rico’s music scene with his brand of meditative, soul-searching songs. Aided by producer and engineer Héctor “Stonetape” Hernández, Fernando crafts ambient soundscapes full of yearning, hope, and ancient wisdom breathed in from the island’s lush mountaintops down to its riverbeds. His latest release, the three-song cycle Luz, is built around two “sister” songs —“Rayo De Luz” and “Valle De Luz”— both sides of the same coin.
